AMRISTAR WINS PRESTIGIOUS AWARD
May 15th, 2002
Amristar Solutions today won the prestigious "Excellence in Mapping Sciences" award, in the category of "Geospatial
Information Systems", for their revolutionary i-delve online mapping technology. The award was presented at the 50th
Anniversary Conference of the Mapping Sciences Institute, held at the Carlton Crest Hotel in Melbourne, Australia. Judged
by a panel of mapping sciences professionals, the award was open to individuals, private companies, government agencies and
academic institutions. "Amristar is honoured to be recognised by the professional mapping science community in this way,"
said Dr. Paul Williams, one of the designers of Amristar's i-delve technology. The WA Department of Minerals and Energy are
previous recipients of the award.
Over two years in the making, i-delve was designed specifically to allow Internet users to interact with large
collections of spatial data over typically low-bandwidth connections. Users can smoothly zoom into and out
of spatial data sets, such as maps and aerial photographs, with the data even while it is
being downloaded, resulting in almost no wait time.
One unique feature of i-delve is its ability to complement raster data
with many layers of vector data, allowing the user to manipulate and query the data as they navigate it.
